Rules of Conduct

We do not allow real photos of children, child pornography or a picture of an act of a sexual nature involving children is prohibited.  Violators will be asked to remove the offending articles. Further measures may be taken.

Property Definitions

1. Content Theft: unlawful or unethical appropriation of a copy of another protected digital content. Unlike theft in the physical world, digital content theft can not deprive the rightful owner of the use of the original work, but potential theoretical future control or income.

2. Copyright: legal protection in most countries of the work such as writing, painting, photography, video and recording music. In the US, copyright is automatically assigned to the creator of a copyrighted work, whether it is actually registered with the government or not.

3. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA): A US federal law that attempts to control the property rights of copyrighted digital assets, including, among other things, music and other sounds, images and textures. Many other countries have or are considering similar laws.

4. Intellectual Property (IP) is a catch-all term that is often used to discuss items such as copyright and trademark. IP is not a legal term, and ignores the differences between things like patents and copyrights.

5. Patent: legal protection in most countries of the specific implementations of ideas. Entering countries, it is limited to specific physical machines or techniques, while in other countries like the US, it also contains the computer algorithms and business processes (although this later field is still being examined by the judge).

6. Piracy: an inflammatory term used by some for the purpose of lobbying and litigation, but that's not really helpful to rational discussion.

7. Plagiarism: the unattributed copying large amounts of text or other works. With a significant portion of a book or number, for example, is plagiarism. Representing a substantial is a matter of judgment, and depends on the size of the work.

Social Contract

Having a similar style, even copying a style, it is not the same as the content theft. In fact, human society as we know it would not exist without it. Technical limitations

OpenSim software and viewers, as they currently exist, do make an effort to control copying items to the intention of its creators. However, it is not difficult for a particular user that undermine intentions. Although it is likely that the future development of OpenSim will improve these tools, there is not now, and probably never will, to avoid a completely reliable technical solution to theft of property. For this reason, the intention of the creator must be respected, regardless of the permissions settings, and regardless of what the user may wish were the intentions of the creator. If in doubt, ask the creator.

We expect that all residents will take into account both the social and legal requirements in the use and copying of digital objects. As a Your 2 Live dweller discovers a potential problem in this area, he or she must first of all the problem with those directly involved, discuss both factual and calm. The use of drama to deal with this is both inappropriate and probably rather than escalating to solve the problem. Nor is it helpful to matters escalate into early a legal dispute, as this is likely to cost all parties time, money and aggravation, without any guarantee of an amicable solution. It is always of the utmost importance that the creators do not confuse copy of ideas and styles, which is legal to copy the actual content without permission, which is not ethically or legally.

You agree that if, in connection with your use of the provided virtual space, you direct or indirect damages of any kind, including injury to persons or property or make loss of profit, will Your 2 Live are liable only for the rent. In no event shall Your 2 Live, it's shareholders, directors, officers or employees be liable for any damages, including lost profits or other incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the virtual space.
